Tax Managers (CPA)

Position Summary:

Our Tax Managers possess the ability to assume full responsibility for directing engagements and special projects and have the enhanced capability of supervising a number of engagements simultaneously. The Tax Managers oversee the performance of client service and all related activity including ensuring that assignments are accomplished by the engagement team timely within the budgeted time. This role contributes to the professional and technical development of staff through on-the-job interaction and training. Additionally, Tax Managers develop a list of potential referral sources to bring new business to the Firm and are involved in community activities for the purposes of business development. Tax Managers should also be developing expertise in one or more specific industry areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Review business, individual and trust tax returns

  • Develop effective working relationships with clients to learn their needs and provide tax planning, consulting, and compliance services

  • Plan and manage tax engagements to ensure exceptional client service while meeting both internal and external deadlines, coordinating staffing, time budgets, billing, and realization rates

  • Manage, develop, train and mentor staff including providing timely, specific, and meaningful feedback

  • Identify new client and business development opportunities including cross-selling and opportunities to provide additional services to existing clients

  • Identify and research tax issues, develop resolutions, and prepare written conclusions

  • Develop industry expertise including staying current on regulatory and industry changes, implementing new standards and technical pronouncements, and contributing to staff development through sharing of industry knowledge

  • Maintain and promote the ideals, values, mission and vision of Wojeski & Company

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting or a related field

  • Current CPA license

  • Minimum five years of public accounting tax experience including management experience

  • Expert knowledge of tax compliance and planning for individuals and businesses

  • Excellent client service skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple high-level projects

  • Ability to work additional hours during peak client service delivery times

Senior Tax Accountants

Position Summary:

Our Senior Tax Accountants provide timely, accurate and reliable completion of client assignments while ensuring delivery is consistent with Wojeski and client expectations. In this role, the Senior Tax Accountants focus on developing skills, building technical skills and understanding/executing diligent client service.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare individual, trust, partnership and corporate tax returns

  • Review tax returns prepared by staff for accuracy

  • Develop effective working relationships with clients

  • Identify and research tax issues, develop resolutions, and prepare written conclusions

  • Recognize tax planning opportunities

  • Handle and resolve tax controversies

  • Manage multiple engagements concurrently to meet client deadlines

  • Develop awareness of budget constraints and project realization

  • Ownership of assignments, including adhering to time budgets, internal and external deadlines, timely completion of tasks and communication with the Wojeski team

  • Provide training and support to the staff and interns

  • Recognize the opportunity to cross-sell and provide new services to clients

  • Communicate with managers and partners, keeping them apprised of project status

  • Have initiative to learn and develop new tax skills

  • Maintain and promote the ideals, values, mission, and vision of Wojeski & Company

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting

  • Current CPA license or CPA candidate

  • Two to five years of public accounting tax experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of tax compliance and planning for individuals and businesses

  • Knowledge of QuickBooks a plus

  • Strong computer skills

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills

  • Exceptional client service skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple work assignments and complete projects in a results-oriented team environment

  • Ability to work additional hours during peak client service delivery times

Accounting Associate - OAS Group

Position Summary:

The Accounting Associates in our Outsourced Accounting Solutions Group (OAS) support our client’s bookkeeping requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly account reconciliations and prepare trial balances for month-end/quarter-end review

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the general ledger and make journal entries

  • Record daily transactions and properly post these to the general ledger

  • Invoice and properly record payments, manage accounts receivable

  • Manage accounts payable and weekly check disbursements

  • Help clients with tasks and issues that arise in the accounting function of their businesses

  • Create and track classes in QuickBooks

  • Process payroll and payroll taxes for clients

  • Process sales tax for clients

  • Maintain and promote the ideals, values, mission and vision of Wojeski & Company

Qualifications:

  • Minimum three to five years relevant bookkeeping experience

  • Proficient in QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, and Excel

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Sound understanding of the balance sheet and profit and loss statement

  • Ability to manage multiple projects for different types of clients, in a fast-paced environment

  • Quick learner who works both independently and as a team member to complete tasks

  • Meticulous attention to detail and follow-through

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Knowledge of business organizational structures

  • Income tax experience is a plus
